Toward 2030: Collaboration Innovation
International Network of Education Institutes Annual Conference
November 11-13, 2019
My team and I are delighted to host this year’s International Network of Education Institutes’ (INEI) conference and welcome you to the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Our theme for this year’s meeting is Toward 2030 – Collaboration and Innovation which references the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) 2030 global framework as well as the genesis of INEI: a shared optimism that the pooling of common experiences and achievements amongst a community of educators can bring about advances in education internationally.
The UN SDG global framework’s motto is ‘to leave no one behind’ and sets out the building blocks for inclusive prosperity creation. One of the most important aspects of the UN SDGs are that they recognize the important role that education plays to mobilize the collaborative action, critical thinking, curiosity, global citizenship, character, and communication required to tackle the critical socio-economic impediments to creating inclusive prosperity. Implementing strategies to deliver the SDGs will require the commitment, skills and expertise of educators across all sectors of education (PK12, Post-Secondary, Workplaces) globally. To effectively enable the world’s SDG capabilities and capacity will require teaching and learning skills, education leadership, education systems engagement and sound ethical judgement.
Together, as representatives of the world’s leading education institutes, INEI is well positioned to enable and advance global sustainability efforts. From our knowledge and application of evidence-informed pedagogical practice to meet the evolving skills demands of global stakeholders, to designing and refining education models and systems which effectively create the conditions for learning and innovation to
thrive, educators and education systems leaders are central to delivering this critical 2030 agenda and are the linchpin for inclusive prosperity now and into our future.
With that context, I welcome you to join our Toward 2030 – Collaboration and Innovation conversation which aims to remind us of our INEI purpose, encourage us to consider our global context and motivate us to build upon our collaborative strengths.
In the following pages, you will find our conference agenda as well as additional information you may find useful as you plan your stay in Canada’s largest, and the world’s most diverse, city, Toronto.
See you soon,
Glen
