This is to announce a new run of the acclaimed course on ICT in Primary Education, to run as a MOOC (a massive open online course), hosted by the University of London.
The course is a collaboration between the UCL Institute of Education and the UNESCO Institute of IT in Education. The course team has instructors from 8 different countries.
This is a professional development course for teachers, head-teachers, leaders and policymakers in primary education, but is open to all with an interest in this area.
Why and how are teachers integrating ICT (Information and Communication Technology) into primary education? In this course we analyse examples from schools in different parts of the world, and bring professional teachers, head- teachers and policymakers together to share their best ideas and inspiring stories..
The course uses a collaborative learning pedagogy along with short videos and interactive tools. It achieved 99% approval ratings in the final survey (48% excellent, 36% very good, 15% good). This is what they said:
“fully enriching… every task was engaging and mind-opening… I was wow’ed all the time!… I thank the other participants who made meaningful contributions… our school is on the verge of ‘stepping it up a notch’, thanks to things learnt through this course… so many ideas, and insights into the transformations of learning taking place across the globe… an awesome learning experience… an amazing way to learn from one another and to share experiences.”
The course runs for 6 weeks, and provides 5 core hours of study each week, with a further 5 optional hours. There is an option of receiving a certificate of completion, and/or a statement of accomplishment.
